Set in the mystical age of 1910, this adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play settles on Cat Island and follows the exploits of a group of lovers, laborers, fairies and officials. This play has enchanted audiences the world over for hundreds of years. Hermia is in love with Lysander but is promised to Demetrius. After the ruling of the Commissioner that she marry Demetrius, Hermia and Lysander flee into the bush. At her heels is a rival lover Helena and Demetrius. Yet something strange is happening in the bush that very night that changes the lives of all who enter. Directed by Trinidadian director Patti Anne-Ali who returns to Shakespeare In Paradise after her successful co-direction of last year’s The Tempest. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the quintessential magical Shakespeare play.
