Call for Volunteers!
Shakespeare In Paradise reminds you that the festival will take place October 1st-11th 2010, with four productions slated to be staged, including Women Take Two – More productions to come of course.
To get things started SiP is asking for your help. Yes, your help. Now you may be asking yourself, it isn’t even May yet, what could you possibly want already? Fret not, SiP is hard at work making preparations to surpass last year’s festival by miles. To make this happen, we are seeking help from the general public.
If you would like to volunteer for the festival, working as front of house personnel, backstage crew, lighting assistants, set builders, marketing assistants etc., feel free to go to this page and sign up. If you know anyone that might be interested, we’re looking for all the help we can get.
Secondly, SiP is putting together a panel of judges to help select Bahamian plays to be staged during the festival. In our effort to help educate the wider community about theatre, we are looking for volunteers to be a part of this committee. What this entails is actually going out to selected Bahamian works and judging them on certain criteria. If you or anyone you know might be interested, feel free to sign up!
Thirdly if you are staging a Bahamian play during April 1st to June 30th 2010 and would like your play to be eligible to be a part of SiP, we invite you to fill out an application. Just send an email to SiP and we’ll get back to you. Please note that your play will be judged by the previously mentioned panel of judges. Again, you can sign up via this site!
Finally, in good spirits, SiP is proud to announce that it will be hosting a script reading series at Chapter One Bookstore. This event will take place during the actual festival. So for all you would-be playwrights, SiP invites manuscripts to be sent in by August 15, 2010 for inclusion in this series. We’ll post more details (how to enter, who to send your scripts to, etc) soon. You never know what you might win.
So there you have it, we’re appealing to you in an effort to catapult this little theatre festival into something incredible.
